FLATBED Contemporary Print Fair: FEBRUARY 14 – 15

Bringing Publishers, Printmakers and University Print Programs from the state of Texas to show at Flatbed Press for two days.

Flatbed Press is pleased to announce the first annual FLATBED CONTEMPORARY PRINT FAIR to be held in Austin, Texas at The Flatbed Building February 14-15, 2014.

The FLATBED CONTEMPORARY PRINT FAIR, working in conjunction with PRINT Austin 2014 will provide a venue for printmakers and print publishers to showcase work to the public and give printmaking demonstrations. Printmakers, print publishers and university print programs from the state of Texas will be on hand to apply to represent their work and programs through a print fair format.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

VALENTINE BENEFIT GALA

February 14, 6 until 9 pm.
The Preview Gala to benefit the Serie Project, in memory of its founder Sam Coronado , will preview the 2014 Flatbed Contemporary Print Fair which contains booths of twenty-five professional printmakers, publishers and university programs from across the state of Texas. The print fair participants will be showing and selling their works to the public. The Gala features Valentine treats, drinks and hands-on Valentine printmaking for everyone in the Flatbed studio. $10 donation for adults. Children under 12 free. Tickets also available at the door. Tickets available at GALA TICKETS!!! and also at the door. The Gala features Valentine treats and drinks and hands-on Valentine making in the studio for all.

FLATBED CONTEMPORARY PRINT FAIR EVENT

February 15
Publishers of fine art prints, printmakers and university print programs will be on hand to show their work and offer it for sale. On-going demonstrations and talks will be taking place in the Flatbed Press Studio. Demonstrations scheduled on the hour will include silkscreen, letterpress, intaglio, chine colle, and lithographic methods

4pm-5pm Cathy Savage “Collagraph printmaking using water soluble Akua Inks” Printing a collagraph with an intaglio wipe and a relief roll.

10am-11am Belinda Casey “Want To See My Etchings?” Intaglio printing demonstration and platemaking samples.

11am-12noon Matt Bagley, Iron Frog Press “Relief Printing with Glass Burnisher” Relief printing by hand burnishing with a glass burnisher/baren.

12noon-1pm Serie Project, Coronado Studio “Screen Printing Techniques” Master Printers Jonathan Rebolloso and Logan Hill demonstration screen printing processes.

1pm-2pm Deborah Merskey “Relief Printing from Clay” Relief printing using an unfired ceramic clay surface.

2pm-3pm Lari Gibbons, P.R.I.N.T Press “Fab! Print Lab” Experimental printmaking matrices made with industrial manufacturing technologies and demonstrates how to use them in a traditional letterpress.

3pm-4pm Alfonso Huerta Garcia “Printing An Aquatint” Introduction to the intaglio method of aquatint and demonstration of its printing using oil based etching ink.
