Margaret Craig’s Great Trash Reef has been evolving and expanding since 2016. Built from a foundation of repurposed plastic gathered from the artist’s household and Texas beaches, and painstakingly sculpted and augmented with Craig’s innovative printing methods, the reef reminds the viewer of the accumulation of toxic trash the ocean gyres hold. The aquarium-like walk-through exposes one to a myriad of real and imagined organisms and life forms.
