Curated by David S. Rubin

May 22-July 25, 2015

David S. Rubin has assembled the work of 17 outstanding San Antonio-based artists: Kim Bishop, Sabra Booth, Justin Boyd, James Cobb, Margaret Craig, Meredith Dean, Marlys Dietrick, Elizabeth Elequin, Joey Fauerso, Enrique Gutierrez, Hilal & Kati Hibri, Jayne Lawrence, Leigh Anne Lester, Eric Mathis, Alejandro Padilla, Samuel Velasquez and Lloyd Walsh.

Global warming, deforestation, pollution of water, food, and air, the ongoing battle against diseases such as AIDS, Alzheimer’s, and cancer — these topics have filled the media airwaves and internet websites for at least a quarter of a century, and no one remains unaffected. In the case of artists, what the individual feels and thinks about these matters is expressed creatively, and today many are investigating environmental issues using a variety of approaches. This exhibition showcases recent works by . . . artists who have become fascinated with the environmental changes that are taking place and altering our relationship to the natural world. While some focus on the organic process of change itself, others are intrigued by hybrids and mutants, new or variant forms of life and culture that have emerged or that can be imagined as the environment continues to evolve and time moves forward.~David S.
